Lukas Pearse is a composer, film sound designer, media artist and bassist from Halifax Nova Scotia and has been deeply involved as a professional bassist since 1990 in a radically wide variety of genres. He has been featured in many festivals and series across Canada and occasionally in Europe including major Canadian jazz festivals. He is the Artistic Director of Upstream Music Association. Pearse studied media art at NSCAD, double bass at Dalhousie, and electroacoustic music and musicology at Goldsmiths College, UK. He is an award-winning film composer, a sound designer and Foley artist for film and television, an occasional educator, published journal articles on electroacoustics, written for the New Grove Encyclopedia of Popular Music, and is a passionate advocate for the sonic arts.
