Oron Catts is the co-founder and Director of SymbioticA, The Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, School of Human Sciences, The University of Western Australia. He is an artist, researcher and curator whose pioneering work with the Tissue Culture and Art Project which he established in 1996 is considered a leading biological art project, he is credited as being the first to grow and eat in-vitro meat and leather. He was a Professor at large in Contestable Design and a Visiting Professor of Design Interaction at The Royal College of Arts, London, Research Fellow at The Tissue Engineering and Organ Fabrication lab, Harvard Medical School, a visiting Scholar at the Department of Art and Art History, Stanford University, and a Visiting Professor at Aalto University’s Future Art Base, Helsinki. He publishes and exhibited extensively in both art and science contexts.
