About the Artwork

The overall body of work for this project reflects the lived experiences of Indigenous individuals, specifically L’nu Mi’kmaq, who have grown up both on-reserve and off-reserve. At its core, it speaks to the process of reconnection with community and culture, while also addressing the complex nuances of identity that arise in these shifting spaces. The work acknowledges the tensions and feelings of separation that often exist within a post-colonial environment, exploring how these dynamics shape personal and collective identity. Ultimately, it serves as both a reflection and a dialogue on belonging, resilience, and the ongoing journey of cultural reclamation.
