This plant was weeded out of the artists front yard, while conforming to society’s definitions of maintenance, and caretaking of lawns. While pulling she acknowledged – just small plants, small living beings. The artist digitally scanned some of her findings and these two beadings are a selection of those weeds.
Beading is a time intensive practice meant to give time, to honour, and to practice patience. These small plants are honoured through the gesture of beading and further through their framing.
