Ericka Walker

Ericka Walker received a BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an MFA from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She lives and works in Nova Scotia, Canada, where she is an Assistant Professor at NSCAD University.

Walker’s practice operates on vernacular histories of the graphic arts. Her print works and site-specific murals subvert the propagandistic function of nostalgia in contemporary culture, disputing the civilizing influence and assumed moral authority of nation building in North America.

Walker exhibits widely throughout North America and internationally, with pieces housed in multiple public and private collections. Her work appeared recently in exhibitions at the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI; the Kelowna Art Gallery, Kelowna, BC; Huron Arts Gallery, San Francisco, CA; the Civic and Cultural Center Numancia, Santander, Spain; the Novosibirsk Graphic Arts Triennial, Novosibirsk State Art Museum, Russia; and the International Print Center, NYC, NY. Walker won the Grand Prize at the 2018 Okanagen Print Triennial, and was long-listed for the 2019 Sobey Art Award.
